Gas and electric fireplace installation on the Eastside.

Sound Fire Solutions handles gas fireplace installation from start to finish: choosing the unit, venting, the gas line, controls, and finish work. We install direct vent gas fireplaces, gas inserts, gas log sets, freestanding gas stoves, and electric fireplaces for homes across the Eastside.

Gas fireplaces, inserts, and log sets we install.

The right gas fireplace depends on the room, the venting path, and how much heat you want. We walk you through what fits your space before you pick a unit, then supply and install it.

Wood to gas fireplace conversions.

A wood to gas fireplace conversion turns a drafty, rarely used wood fireplace into a heat source you run with a switch. Most conversions use a gas insert that fits the existing opening and vents through a new liner in the chimney. We also remove and replace old gas fireplaces and upgrade standing pilot units to electronic ignition.

Chimney liner installation and venting.

Every gas fireplace needs the right vent. An insert in a masonry chimney needs an aluminum flex liner, and a new fireplace needs direct vent pipe run to the wall or roof. We install the complete vent system and cap it so it is sealed and weather tight.

Gas line, controls, and blowers.

We run the gas line to the fireplace, pull the permit, and pressure test it. Then we set it up the way you want to control it, from a simple wall switch to a thermostat or remote, and add a blower if you want more heat moved into the room.

Electric fireplace installation.

Where gas or venting is not practical, an electric fireplace still gives you a finished fireplace wall. We install built-in linear and wall-mount electric fireplaces, plus electric inserts for existing wood or gas fireplace openings. There is no gas line, chimney or venting, and it works well in condos, bedrooms and basements.

Gas fireplace installation questions.

Short answers to what homeowners ask us before the first site visit.

Question 1 of 7

How much does gas fireplace installation cost?

It depends on the type of unit, the venting, and how far the gas line has to run. A gas log set in a working fireplace is the smallest project, an insert with a new chimney liner is next, and a new fireplace in a wall that never had one is the largest. You get a fixed quote after a site visit.

Question 2 of 7

How long does it take to install a gas fireplace?

An insert or log set in an existing fireplace usually takes a day or two of work. A new built-in fireplace takes longer because of framing, venting, and finish work. Inspections add time, and you get a schedule with the quote.

Question 3 of 7

Do I need a permit to install a gas fireplace?

Yes. The gas line and the appliance need a permit and an inspection. We file it and carry it through to sign-off so you are not chasing it.

Question 4 of 7

Can you convert my wood burning fireplace to gas?

Usually. We measure the firebox and inspect the chimney, then recommend a gas insert or a log set that fits. Most insert conversions need a new aluminum flex liner so the insert vents safely.

Question 5 of 7

Will a gas fireplace work during a power outage?

Units with a standing pilot or a battery backup will light without power. Many electronic ignition models need power unless they have a battery backup, so it is worth deciding before you choose a unit.

Question 6 of 7

Should I choose an electric or gas fireplace?

Choose gas for more heat and a real flame. Choose electric where venting or a gas line is not practical, or when you want the lowest installed cost.

Question 7 of 7

Does an electric fireplace need a dedicated circuit?

Smaller units plug into a standard outlet. Larger built-in units and models with bigger heaters often need a dedicated circuit, so check the unit's requirements before you buy. We coordinate with a licensed electrician when one is needed.
